Marvel Studios have confirmed that Joss Whedon has signed a deal with them, to develop their film and television projects. Whedon will return to write and direct the sequel to this year’s Avengers Assemble, consult on the various other Marvel Studios films, and will also develop a live-action TV series set in the Marvel filmic universe.
The statement released by the studio implies that a release date of 2015 has been set for the film. The Avengers sequel will follow next year’s Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World, and 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier and The Guardians of the Galaxy.
